Project Overview
The Periodic Overhauling (POH) Facility at Ashokapuram Railway Workshop represents a comprehensive modernization of Indian Railways’ coach maintenance infrastructure. This project upgraded maintenance capacity from 70-80 coaches monthly to handle modern LHB (Linke Hofmann Busch) coaches.
The Challenge
Problem: Indian Railways needed to upgrade maintenance facilities to support new LHB coaches while increasing throughput from 70-80 to 100+ coaches monthly.
Complexity: Required simultaneous construction of multiple industrial facilities (POH shed, open gantry, paint shop, RT shop, electrical substation, offices) while maintaining workshop operations.
